BUILT ON HONESTY
It’s not impossible to find a repair shop that is honest. At Schoen Auto it’s our founding principle. In 2008, Jerry Elman had a vision of creating an honest, open, and transparent environment that people would feel comfortable bringing their vehicles to. After hearing to many horror stories of friends and family being taken advantage of in the auto repair industry, Jerry dreamed of making something better.

Schoen Auto became the vehicle for implementing that dream of a repair shop focused on integrity. The shop became certified “Female Friendly,” understanding the importance of not marginalizing one group or another but being an advocate. Schoen Auto won the Rochester Business Ethics Award in 2010 and the BBB Torch Award for Ethics in 2019, further cementing the commitment to honesty. Benjamin and Heather Lee are proud to carry on the tradition and founding principles of honest, caring auto repair.
THE SCHOEN AUTO WARRANTY
Schoen Auto leads the industry with a 2-year parts and labor warranty on most repairs performed at our facility. In the event of a failure in a component, manufacturing, and/or workmanship, replacement and installation will be covered free of charge to the customer, including parts and labor.
At Schoen Auto we understand repairs can be expensive, which is why it is so important to provide a quality repair, backed by a good warranty. While components and workmanship can’t always be perfect, our commitment to honoring our guarantees can.

Warranty Limitations

Oil change service parts and labor are warrantied for 90 Days or 3,000 Miles, whichever comes first. MEET THE TEAM
Benjamin Lee
Benjamin’s love for cars began as a child, working on classic cars with his dad in the garage. He began his professional automotive career by enrolling in his high school’s Intensive Automotive Program. From there, he kept working in various automotive shops, attending training classes, and expanding his experience and knowledge. He earned his certification as an ASE Master Technician, including L3 Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist.
Benjamin has also graduated with a BFA from SUNY Brockport, served
honorably in the Army National Guard, studied in Austria and Germany and is fluent in German. He joined the Schoen Auto team in 2011. If he’s not fixing your car, you might find him spending time with his family, writing, playing hockey, or traveling.
In 2018, Benjamin purchased Schoen Auto from his good friend and employer Jerry Elman, keeping the dream of honest, caring auto repair alive.
Matthew Roy
Matt is a native Rochesterian growing up in Honeoye Falls and coming back to Rochester after attending SUNY New Paltz. For 20 years he worked in the transportation industry on the heavy truck side and is excited to join Schoen Auto in 2022 to continue their tradition of putting customers first.
Matt is also proud to be a member of the Happy Pirates, taking over for Gary The Happy, so if you see him out and about dressed as a pirate at the Seneca Park Zoo or the Lilac Festival make sure you say AHOY! In addition to that, he also does a lot of local improv so don't be surprised if you become part of the show.
Matt loves spending time with his wife and daughter, playing hockey, cooking, woodworking, and spending time outdoors and traveling.
Mark Rice
Mark received his two-year degree from the Genesee/Wyoming BOCES program and continued on to become an ASE and Saab Master Level Technician. He has also been recognized with GM’s Mark of Excellence Award. Mark has always loved taking things apart to see how they work, so it’s no surprise that he has been working professionally as a technician for forty-five years.
Along with cars, Mark also loves motorcycles, spending his free time tinkering and riding. You might also find him watching the game or the race on Sunday, but more often than not he’ll be chasing his grandkids around.
Jonathan Wasilewski
Jonathan, always the tinkerer, began his journey to become an automotive technician for the simple reason that he loves to get his hands dirty and take things apart. After spending 2 years studying mechanical engineering at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Jon enrolled into Monroe Community College's Automotive Service Education Program (ASEP). Upon graduating in 2016 and earning the ASEP leadership award, he began his career working and gaining experience in the automotive repair industry. Jon joined the Schoen Auto team in 2019, and is excited to be part of a culture embracing integrity and honesty in auto repair.

Also, if you ever wanted to turn your riding lawnmower into a racing tractor, Jon's the man you want to talk to. He's built a few and when you ask him why, well, because he can.

Melissa Biondolillo
Melissa’s journey to becoming an automotive technician began deep down in the ocean depths – in a submarine. As a Machinist’s Mate in the United States Navy, there wasn’t much on a submarine she wasn’t responsible for maintaining. After finishing her stint in the Navy, the transition to automotive repair was almost accidental. Upon finishing an engine swap in a 1993 Ford Bronco, it became clear that vehicle repair might be more of a career opportunity than just a hobby. Moving quickly from Instant Oil Change to wrenching for both Honda and Chevrolet dealerships, she joined Schoen Auto in 2022. It wasn’t long before Melissa was managing extensive repairs on all major vehicle manufacturers with passion and expertise.
As much as Melissa would love to spend her free time stuffing too much engine in a 1980’s Monte Carlo, she’s much more apt to be found enjoying the company of her wife and two beautiful children. Maybe when they’re older, they can assist with the engine install, following in a proud parent’s footsteps of women in the automotive industry.
Jonathan "Red" Taglialatela
Red began his automotive repair path for reasons you would probably predict – Gain the knowledge necessary to successfully modify three MINI Coopers to be capable of driving through sewage tunnels, down flights of stairs, on railroad tracks all while carrying several hundred pounds of gold bars. After finishing Monroe Community College’s Automotive Program in 2010 with a focus in General Automotive repair, Red began honing his skills at several local automotive repair shops, looking for the right fit, all while accumulating ASE certifications and valuable experience. Eventually he found a home with Professional Auto Care, which he eventually took over as owner/operator in 2014 as a Master Level Technician.

After 10 years of successfully running an automotive repair shop, Red’s desire to have more time for family and spend more time “under the hood” than “up at the front” became apparent. Making a difficult decision, Red closed the doors of Professional Auto and began to look for a new home that would meet the high standards he had set for his entire career. Schoen Auto was proud to welcome him on board in 2023.
